Two of them this year moved into the fourth year, with a successful dissertation proposal in June, 2019. Five more students took their qualifying exams in August 2019. And four took had dissertation proposals approved in December 2019 and January 2020. We are expecting a fifth soon.

In the meantime, here is a link to PhD student Mon Mon Myat’s new publication about Aung San Suu Kyi, “Is Politics Aung San Suu Kyi’s Vocation?” in Palgrave Communications from the UK. She also published a version of this paper in Social Transformations, vo. 7(1):95-118.

PhD student Hayso Thako and his colleague Su-An Oh also published a paper “Education; A Micro-theatre of Ethnic Politics and the Peace Process in Myanmar” in ISEAS Perspectives from Singapore. He is continuing with further publication plans in academic journals.

We hope to get positive word back soon about more journal publications by our students.
